International Volunteers bringing solutions for
Street Kids, abandoned children and mothers in Peru,
Latin America
Our mission is to improve the quality of life for as
many street children as we can, also to help abandoned
and single mothers through our program for international
volunteers, working in Latin America. In order to turn
street kids and child laborers into students, we are
prepared to give them food, clothing, medical,
psychological and social assistance. We also help with
basic education and work skills training - including
reading, writing, maths, English and computer
basics.
Kids have the right to be fed, clothed,
sheltered and educated by their parents. When parents
are unable or refuse to do this: then society must
intervene. Bruce Peru exists to feed, clothe, shelter
and educate street kids who have been let down by their
parents and by society.
HISTORY OF OUR VOLUNTEER WORK IN PERU, LATIN
AMERICA We were formed as a registered Non
Governmental Organization (NGO) in Peru during the
spring of 2001, as the latest volunteer program of the
private 27 year old NGO, Agenda SOS International, Inc.
("Beloved Child"). Our work since 2001 has consisted of
providing some form of assistance to over 5,000 street
kids and 2,000 impoverished mothers in and around the
north Peru city of Trujillo. In the Peru beach town of
Delicias we have acquired a large ocean-front property,
on which we are constructing a shelter for abandoned
pregnant adolescent rape victims (street kids), of which
there sadly are many in this part of Latin America. In
2004 we began to broaden our program in Latin America to
other cities in Peru, and have plans to extend our
volunteer program to educate street kids into other
Latin American countries with large street kid
populations. To view our history prior to 2001, please
go to "Beloved
Child". During our entire history we have been
financed either by gifts from our founders or by self
sustaining volunteer projects. In 2004 we are, for the
first time, exploring ways to broaden our funding base
in order be able to bring our successful program for
street kids to as many Latin American cities as fast as
we can. We have been inspired by the generosity of
numerous international volunteers who have come from all
over the world to help in our program save and educate
street kids. |
